What are Templates?

A Template is the blueprint Jamy follows to create a Meeting Report from a meeting or call.

Templates use Sections as their building blocks. A Template can include one or more Sections, and you can choose whether it also includes Topics & Tasks.

For example, the default Standard Meeting Summary Template uses the Summary Section plus Topics & Tasks. You can build Templates with as many Sections as you need.

We cover how to build a Template in Creating your first Template.

Note: In older Jamy documentation, Templates used Components as building blocks. Sections are the same thing under the current UI name.

Templates and Sections — how they fit together

Piece

Role

Section

Defines one part of a report (instructions or structured fields)

Template

Combines Sections (and optionally Topics & Tasks) into a reusable blueprint

Meeting Report

The output Jamy generates after processing a meeting

Typical workflow:

  1. Create Sections (or choose from the Public Library).

  2. Build a Template and add those Sections on the Content step.

  3. Assign the Template to a meeting — manually or let Jamy choose automatically.

  4. After processing, Jamy generates the report using your Template.

Where to find Templates

Go to Notes & MeetingsTemplates in the sidebar (/report-creator).

From there you can:

  • Browse your Templates in a searchable card grid.

  • See how many Sections each Template includes (Sections (n)).

  • Select Create Template to build a new one.

  • Edit Templates you own or have editor access to.

Creating and editing Templates requires the Templates feature (Pro new, Premium, Global Business, or the Custom Templates add-on).

What goes into a Template?

When you create or edit a Template, you configure two main areas:

Basics

Field

Required?

Purpose

Template Name

Yes

How the Template is labelled in Jamy

Purpose / Category

Yes

Short summary of what the Template is for — helps Jamy auto-select the right Template

Description

Optional

Extra detail on when to use this Template — also used for automatic matching

The Purpose / Category and Description fields together tell Jamy when a Template should apply. The more specific you are, the better automatic selection works.

You can also set view and edit permissions (only you, everyone in your organisation, or specific people).

Content

  • Include Topics & Tasks — toggle to automatically extract discussion topics and action items.

  • Custom Sections — add, reorder, and remove Sections from My Sections or the Public Library.

A Template must include at least one Section or Topics & Tasks before it can be saved.

How Jamy chooses which Template to use

When processing a meeting or call, Jamy picks a Template in this order:

1. Manually assigned Template (highest priority)

If you assign a Template before the meeting is processed, Jamy uses that Template.

From Calendar:

  1. Go to Calendar (monthly or daily view).

  2. Open a meeting with Process meeting enabled (status to_be_processed).

  3. Choose a Template from the Template dropdown.

  4. Jamy saves the assignment and uses that Template when generating the report.

From Recordings:

When creating a report manually via Create Report, select a Template in the form before submitting.

From Calls:

When recording a call, choose a Template from the Select a Template panel.

2. Meeting name matches a Template name

If no Template was manually assigned, Jamy checks whether the meeting name contains a match with any of your organisation’s Template names.

Example: If your meeting is called “Acme Sales Demo” and you have a Template named “Sales Discovery Call”, Jamy may match on the word Sales and use that Template.

3. Template description matches the meeting content

If neither of the above applies, Jamy compares your Templates’ Purpose / Category and Description against the meeting transcript and context.

This is where a detailed Template description pays off. You are telling Jamy when each Template should be used.

Example: In Creating your first Template, we build a sales Template with Summary and Sales Call Pain Point Analysis Sections. The Purpose / Category and Description explain that it is for sales calls with leads or prospects. Jamy can recognise when a meeting fits that context and select the Template automatically.

4. Default fallback

If none of the above apply — no manual assignment, no name match, and no description match — Jamy falls back to the Standard Meeting Summary Template, which includes:

  • Summary

  • Topics & Tasks

This ensures every processed meeting still receives a useful report even when no custom Template matches.

What’s next?

You now have context on what Templates are, how to assign them, and how Jamy selects them automatically.

Next: Creating your first Template — build a sales Template with Summary and Sales Call Pain Point Analysis, and write a description that helps Jamy apply it to the right meetings.
