Testing Sections

In this article, we will test the Sales Call Pain Point Analysis Section created in Creating your first Section.

The Section Test feature lets you apply a Section to a previously processed meeting so you can see how it performs before adding it to a Template. You get a preview of the output Jamy would generate in a real Meeting Report.

For this to work, you need at least one relevant processed meeting. Since we are testing a sales-call Section, ideally pick a sales call recording from Recordings.

Note: In older Jamy documentation, Sections were called Components. The test feature applies to Sections in the current UI.

Before you begin

  • Your Section must already be saved (see Creating your first Section).

  • You need at least one processed meeting in Recordings — ideally a sales call for this example.

  • Section testing requires the Templates feature (Pro new, Premium, Global Business, or the Custom Templates add-on).

Step 1 — Open the Section Tests view

Open Sections Tests for the Section you want to test:

/quick-access/tests/{section-id}

The legacy URL also works:

/sections/tests/{section-id}

Replace {section-id} with your Section’s ID (for example, the Sales Call Pain Point Analysis Section you created earlier).

The page title is Sections Tests. Use the Back arrow to return to Quick Access.

Tip: If you do not have the Section ID to hand, check your browser URL after creating or editing the Section, or ask your workspace admin.

Step 2 — Review the test list

When you open Sections Tests for the first time, the test table is empty. That is expected — you have not run a test yet.

The table shows:

Column

Description

Meeting

The recording the Section was tested against

Test Creation Date

When the test was created

Status

Processing spinner while running, green checkmark when complete

Step 3 — Create a test

  1. In the search field, start typing the name of a meeting to test against.
Placeholder: “Pick a report to test this component with”.

  2. Jamy searches your processed Recordings and shows matching results with the meeting name, date, and a snippet of the summary.

  3. Select the recording you want — for this tutorial, choose a sales call if possible.

  4. Select Create Test.

Jamy queues the test and shows a confirmation:

Test added to the queue. It will be done in <1 min.

Step 4 — Wait for the result

Tests usually complete in under a minute. While a test is processing, the status column shows a loading spinner.

You do not need to refresh the page manually — Jamy polls for updates every few seconds and the table updates automatically when the test finishes.

Once complete, the status changes to a green checkmark.

Step 5 — Review the Prompt and Result

Select a completed test row to expand it. You will see two columns:

PROMPT

RESULT

The instructions Jamy used

The output the Section generated

Text Generation Sections

For Text Generation Sections (like Sales Call Pain Point Analysis), the PROMPT column shows your numbered instructions, and the RESULT column shows the generated analysis.

Q&A or Variable Capture Sections

For Q&A or Variable Capture Sections, each item is shown with its Name, Type, and Description on the left, and the extracted value on the right.

Step 6 — Evaluate the output

Review whether the RESULT matches what you expected.

If the Section performed well, it is ready to add to a Template. If the output language or detail level differs from what you wanted, that may reflect the recording itself — for example, a Spanish-language meeting may produce Spanish output even if your instructions are in English.

In our example, if you tested against a Spanish sales call, the analysis may appear in Spanish. That is normal — the Section is responding to the meeting content.

If the result is not right:

  1. Go back and edit the Section (adjust instructions or items).

  2. Run another test on the same recording to compare results fairly.

  3. Repeat until you are satisfied.

Tips for effective testing

  • Use the same recording when iterating — that way you are comparing like with like.

  • Pick a relevant meeting — test a sales Section on a sales call, an interview Section on an interview, and so on.

  • Run as many tests as you need — there is no limit on refining and re-testing.

  • Check both PROMPT and RESULT — if the output is wrong, the fix is often in the instructions, not the meeting.

What’s next?

You have created your first Section and tested it. It is ready to use in production.

The next step is to create a Template that includes this Section so Jamy applies it automatically to future meetings.

Before you do, read What are Templates? for context on how Templates, Sections, and Meeting Reports fit together.

Then:

  1. Go to TemplatesCreate Template.

  2. On the Content step, add your tested Section from My Sections.

  3. Save the Template.

  4. Assign it to meetings from Calendar or when creating a report from Recordings.
