Topics Section

Learn how Jamy identifies discussion themes in your meetings, how to add or delete Topics, and what the Topic detail view includes.

The Topics section captures what was discussed in a meeting โ€” agenda items, themes, decisions, and subject areas โ€” as a numbered list with transcript-backed detail. It appears near the bottom of every Meeting Report, directly above Tasks.

What is the Topics section?

After Jamy processes a meeting, it can automatically extract the main discussion topics covered during the call. Each topic is a concise label for a theme or segment of the conversation.

Each topic typically includes:

Field

Description

Topic title

A short label for the discussion theme

Description

A fuller summary of what was discussed (in the topic detail view)

Quotes

Transcript excerpts with timestamps linking to the recording

Topics help you scan a long meeting quickly and jump to the moments that matter, without reading the full report.

Where to find Topics

  1. Go to Recordings (/reports).

  2. Open a meeting report (/reports/details/{meeting-id}).

  3. Scroll towards the bottom of the report โ€” Topics appears above Tasks.

How Topics are generated

Topics are created automatically when:

  • The Template used for the report has Include Topics & Tasks enabled, or

  • You manually add them via Add New Report Section ๐Ÿช„ โ†’ Topics & Tasks โ†’ Add

Most default templates (including Standard Meeting Summary) include Topics and Tasks extraction.

While Topics are generating

If Topics have not been generated yet, you will see:

Topics have not been generated for this report.

The page refreshes automatically while the meeting is still processing. Once generation completes, the numbered topic list appears.

If a finished report has no Topics, use Add New Report Section โ†’ Topics & Tasks โ†’ Add to generate them from the transcript.

The Topics list

Each topic row shows:

  • A number โ€” its position in the list (1, 2, 3โ€ฆ)

  • The topic title โ€” select to open full details

  • A โ‹ฎ (more) menu โ€” Comments, Edit, and Delete

Unlike Tasks, Topics do not have checkboxes, assignees, or status labels โ€” they represent what was discussed, not action items.

Add a topic

  1. Select the + button next to the Topics heading.

  2. Type your topic in Add new topic.

  3. Select + or press Enter.

The new topic is saved immediately and added to the list.

The + button only appears once Topics have been generated (or already exist). If the section is still empty and the meeting is processing, wait for generation to finish or use Add New Report Section โ†’ Topics & Tasks.

Edit a topic

  1. Select โ‹ฎ on the topic row.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. Update the title inline.

  4. Select + to save.

You can also edit the Description from the topic detail view (see below).

Delete a topic

  1. Select โ‹ฎ on the topic row.

  2. Select Delete.

The topic is removed from the report immediately.

Only the report owner can add, edit, or delete Topics. Shared-link and anonymous viewers see Topics in read-only mode.

Topic detail view

Select a topic title to open the detail drawer. This is where the full context lives.

Description

A summary of what was discussed under this topic. If Jamy extracted a description, it appears at the top of the drawer.

  • Select the edit icon next to Description to update the text.

  • Select Update to save your changes.

If no description was generated, the drawer opens directly on Quotes.

Quotes

Transcript excerpts that support the topic. Each quote shows:

  • A timestamp โ€” select to jump to that moment in the recording

  • The speaker name

  • The quoted text from the transcript

Quotes are the fastest way to verify exactly what was said about a topic.

Recording player

A video/audio player at the bottom of the drawer. Timestamps in Quotes seek the player to the relevant moment in the meeting.

Note: Full topic details (description, quotes, and recording links) require the topics_detail feature, available on Pro, Pro new, Premium, and Global Business plans. Without it, selecting a topic prompts an upgrade.

Comments on Topics

Discuss a specific topic with your team without leaving the report.

  1. Select โ‹ฎ on the topic row.

  2. Select Comments.

  3. Type your message โ€” use @ to mention teammates or @Jamy to ask a question about that topic.

  4. Select Send.

See Communicate with Your Team and Jamy in the Comments Section for full details.

Topics and Templates

When creating or editing a Template at Report Creator (/report-creator), toggle:

Include Topics & Tasks
Automatically extract discussion topics and action items

When enabled, every report using that Template will include both Topics and Tasks sections generated from the transcript.

Tips

  • Use Topics to navigate long meetings โ€” scan the numbered list first, then open detail views for topics you care about.

  • Click timestamps โ€” jump straight to the recording moment instead of searching the transcript manually.

  • Add missing themes โ€” if Jamy missed a discussion area, add a topic manually and edit the description in the detail view.

  • Comment for context โ€” tag a teammate on a specific topic with @mentions in Comments when you want them to review that section.

  • Missing Topics? โ€” use Add New Report Section โ†’ Topics & Tasks โ†’ Add to generate them from an existing transcript.
