Creating your first Section
This walkthrough creates a Text Generation Section using Jamy’s AI features, then refines it manually. If you have not read it yet, start with Types of Sections: Q&A or Variable Capture and Text Generation — it explains how Text Generation Sections work and uses Summary as an example.

We will build a Section that evaluates a sales call and surfaces the customer’s pain points and requirements. Jamy will generate a first draft from your description; you will tweak the instructions before saving.
You can also start from an existing Public Library Section instead of building from scratch — see Using the Public Library below.
Before you begin
Creating Sections requires the Templates feature, available on Pro new, Premium, Global Business, or with the Custom Templates add-on.
Open the Create Section editor
In the sidebar, go to Notes & Meetings → Templates.
Open the Create Section editor using either route:
From a Template (recommended): select Create Template → continue to the Content step → Create New to open the inline Create New Section modal, or
Full editor: open Create Section directly (
/quick-access/create; the legacy URL/sections/createalso works).
This guide follows the full Create Section wizard, which has five steps: Method, Details, Type, Visibility, and Content.
Step 1 — Choose your creation method
On the Choose Creation Method step, select Generate with AI (marked RECOMMENDED).
Then select Generate with AI in the footer. This opens the Section Description modal.
Step 2 — Write your Section description (AI prompt)
In the modal, describe what you need in as much detail as possible. Write it as a Section description, not as a chat message.
Works well:
This section evaluates a sales call and identifies the customer’s pain points and requirements…
Works less well:
Generate a section that has…
Jamy uses your description to infer the Section name, type, and instructions.
Our example prompt
We want a Section that evaluates a sales call and identifies pain points and requirements. The output should analyse:
The problem the customer is facing
How they have tried to solve it
How much they have spent
Which tools they have used
How long they have been trying to solve it
How high a priority solving the problem is
Whether a budget has already been assigned
The Section should include the analysis and quote specific moments from the call that support it.
Copy and paste this into the Section Description field:
This section evaluates a sales call and identifies the customer's pain points and requirements. The result of applying this section to a sales call is a precise, thorough and succinct analysis of the problem the customer is facing, the ways they have tried to solve it, how much they have spent, which tools they have used, how long they have been trying to solve it, how high a priority it is to solve this problem, and whether they already have a budget assigned. This section not only analyses the call, but also references specific quotes from the call that the analysis is based on.
Select Generate Section 🪄 and wait for Jamy to finish.
If you prefer to build everything yourself, select Do it manually instead.
When generation completes, Jamy pre-fills the Section name, description, type (Text Generation), and a first set of instructions. You are taken to the next step to review.
Step 3 — General information
On the General Information step, review:
Section Name — adjust if needed (for example, Sales Call Pain Point Analysis).
Description — the summary Jamy generated from your prompt.
Editors (optional) — add colleagues from your organisation who should be able to edit this Section.
You are automatically an Editor of every Section you create. Adding Editors is optional but useful for shared templates across a team.
Select Next when you are happy with the details.
Step 4 — Section type
On the Section Type step, confirm Text Generation is selected:
Create a section that generates specific text based on instructions you provide
Jamy should have chosen this automatically. If not, select Text Generation manually, then Next.
Step 5 — Visibility
On the Visibility step, choose who can use the Section:
For this tutorial, choose Public if you want others to find and reuse your sales-call Section. Choose Private if it is for internal use only.
Select Next.
Step 6 — Add and refine instructions
On the Add Instructions step, review the instructions Jamy generated. They appear under Current Instructions as a numbered list.
Add an extra instruction manually
To make the output more detailed, add another instruction:
Type your instruction in the Write Instructions field — for example:
For each pain point identified, rate its severity (Low, Medium, High) and explain why.
Press Enter or select Add Instruction.
The new instruction appears in the list. Use the edit icon to adjust wording, or the delete icon to remove it.
The more specific your instructions, the better the report output.
When you are satisfied, select Create Section.
Jamy saves the Section and returns you to Quick Access. The Section is now available under My Sections when building Templates or adding report sections to meetings.
Using the Public Library
Instead of creating a Section from scratch, you can reuse one that already exists:
Go to Templates → Create Template (or edit a Template) → Content step.
Select Add Section.
Open the Public Library tab.
Search for a relevant Section and select Add.
You can then edit your copy or use it as-is in your Template. This replaces the older “duplicate a public Component” workflow.
What you have built
You now have a Text Generation Section that:
Analyses sales calls for customer pain points and requirements
Covers budget, tools, spend, priority, and timeline
Includes supporting quotes from the recording
Can be shared publicly or kept private
Can be edited by you and any Editors you assigned
Add the Section to a Template
A Section on its own does not change meetings until it is part of a Template:
Go to Templates → Create Template (or edit an existing one).
On the Content step, select Add Section → My Sections.
Add your new Section and arrange the order.
Optionally enable Include Topics & Tasks.
Save the Template.
Assign the Template to a meeting from Calendar ( Template dropdown) or when creating a report from Recordings.
Next step — test your Section
Before relying on it in live meetings, test how the Section performs on a real recording.
Open Sections Tests for your Section (
/quick-access/tests/{section-id}).Search for an existing report in Recordings.
Select Create Test.
Compare the Prompt and Result side by side.
If the output needs improvement, edit the instructions and run another test.
